Well it has been a busy season for us at EveryTribe. We have been hoping that the innovation we produce in the fundraising industry provide an excellent distribution channel for excellent products.

In the midst of our endeavors, I wanted to stop and make note of a speaker from TED from a few years ago, in regards to aid to Africa. I do not wish to say all aid is bad, but rather that we are addressing the distribution of assets internationally the wrong way.

So, in essence, this is why we do what we do, because clearly the current system around the globe isn't working. And perhaps we can learn as our country faces it's own crisis. Take a look at this video...

A Note on Fundraising Management

It's decision time of the year for fundraising chairs around the US. In the midst of an economic down turn, remember the two best ways of fundraising success:

1. Proper Management
2. Student Participation

To maintain proper management is an intense part of the two week fundraiser. If you are contacting teachers, administrators and parents continually, to remind them of the sale, you will be successful. It is a consistent and small action that can produce a lot of results. Also, be mindful of your process. If you are doing a cookie dough or product sales, your are going to have to sort a lot of product. Remember, this is very time consuming, and if not managed properly, you will have lots of angry customers. That's why EveryTribe has taken the post-sale management on our shoulders. While leading your group forward, the last thing you need to do is to manage post-sale distribution.

To get your students to participate means two things:
1. You are allowing them to own their own future
2. You need them to get out there.

People do not buy passively for school fundraising efforts. Every Tribe has tried and failed at this too, under our old online system. School fundraisers work so well because people buy from students they know and love. Family, friends and others buy when a student is in front of them and they desire to help. Our fair trade helps students draw a broader audience, but the number of people willing and committed to helping people overseas is still limited.

This allows us to track the sales per student and which student gets what incentive. We can ship them labeled with their name on it as well. This just in: We're going India!

We are excited around ETI.com about the upcoming trip to India. We have been overseas before, but now armed with a blog and a new fundraising system , we hope we can generate more jobs and income for those in developing situtations.

Plus, we will be documenting more via this new blog and hopefully our video team with be able to produce some powerful imagery.

With the onset of Slumdog, we have had a large response to what we do there. Our Dalit Earrings have almost sold out, and we hope to expand the product line there as well as shore up some production methods. Also on the iteneratry is to "puddle jump" to Sri Lanka to assess the new manufacturing facility and inspect the first round of products. Wait till you see the smiles!

Falling Whistles "Love Speaks" was a success!

Three young Americans discovered a disturbing child solider tactic in the war of the Congo.

Warning: Disturbing Content, Parents Advisory

The young boys who were captured by rebel leaders were forced to walk the front line of the jungle battles. Each boy too young to be able to lift a weapon was given only a whistle. Told they would be shot from behind if they retreated, they marched forward, blowing their 'weapon'.

Every Tribe sold our products at their "Love Speaks" event at Baylor University. A portion of the proceeds went to the mission to raise funds to support these children's art therapy. We discussed potential import of products to the USA for distribution made by parents and children of the war, however the US has a trade embargo against the Congo because of the war.

New Incentive Plans

Well, we have tried to create the world's best school fund raising program without using prize programs. The reality is that young kids with no world perspective need to be motivated.

But, we have not compromised in the value of using EveryTribe fundraising to educate children and groups on the need for fair trade around the globe. By using these new incentives we can:

Help schools sell more thus help our producers sell more
Increase participation by students and thus increase education and awareness
See higher return fundraising customers and thus help our producers with economic sustainablity

So here they are:

Super Kids program: the coolest toys that are accumulated per card sold. A lot of these are outdoor fun that encourage kids to go outside and play! The lower and middle prizes are “super sized” to encourage greater participation.
Teacher Incentive program: If you have a highly motivated school of children who love their teachers, this is the way to go. Teachers don't get enough in our opinion! Your teachers get $50 gift card to the place of their choice for 50% participation of their class.*
High School Cash Back rewards: Have some older kids that wouldn't go sell for a toy (at least openly)? We have a drawing system that gives older kids a chance and some gas or itunes moolah.

*requires 50% selling 50% of cards. $500 dollar min

So if you are a small private school, large public school or high school cheerleading squad, you can be sucessful at fundraising!
